The rest of July

We decided to stick a little closer to home for the rest of July. We attended a Buchanan family BBQ at Auntie Vickie's in Silver Creek. Silver Creek is 20 minutes or so past Salmon Arm and quite a nice little drive. On the way out there we saw 3 police cars on the road and thought "What the heck is going on out here?" Turns out 'The Stomp' is what was going on, a yearly big biker weekend and by coincidence this was the weekend. We had tons of fun and ate tons of food but didn't manage to outlast those bikers. I could still hear their party going on when I got up to pee at 4am! Thanks for hosting such a fun event Vickie and Dan. We sure hope you have it again next year.

The end of July saw Kaes and I head to Eagle Bay with the Ward/Boruch/Degerness clan. This is an annual trip for me and I have only missed going once in the last 12 years! The weather was hot-hot-hot and being by the lake was so nice. There were a lot of other boys camping there too and the kids all played and played. I think Kaes loved riding in Jess and Jamie's boat the best though! This was also during the BC wide fire ban. We watched the Galena Bay fire (below) grow and grow for our nightly entertainment seeing as we couldn't have our own fire. Its funny how camping has changed now that we all have kids. The nights are a little earlier than they used to be and the beer budget is a little less!

Yay! Pascal finally got to go camping with us! We zipped up to Carnes Creek to spend one night with my dad during the August long weekend. It is great to be able to hop in the van, drive for 20 minutes and then be "camping". The weatherman was calling for the weather to change, but all we got was a little quick rainstorm while preparing dinner. It cooled things off a little, but only just. This is probably the only time Kaes wore a sweater all summer !

I love the walk up to the creek and under the bridge. We tried to take a nice family shot but it was just getting to be dusk and our camera didn't like the lighting. Another Blommestein family photo in the crapper, oh well.
Kaes loves to walk Roscoe, and Grandpa likes to let him!!

Where has the time gone??

WOW. Almost the end of September already. And our last post was in July?? So much for keeping this thing up to date. We have just been SO amazingly busy, but I think things will start to normalize and calm down starting this week. Which means that I will have some time to catch up our August and September adventures. That is my goal for the next week so stay tuned...
