Father's Day

We went down on the flats near 10 Mile for a father's day dinner with Pascal's family and their company from Holland. We have this huge biplane kite that was purchased last year at a garage sale and has been waiting in the van for its turn to fly. No instructions, of course; now we know why it was only $1. We tried every combination of construction, but just could not get it into the air. So, we decided to eat some hot dogs and smores instead.

After dinner, thanks to the engineering genius of Uncle Frank, we finally managed to get the kite into the air. It is quite powerful and we had quite a time bringing it in. It flew out of Pascal's hands and landed in the river. I didn't even hesitate to wade in after it and the kite was saved for another flight, another day. Thank you all for a nice evening.

Here's a little tribute to Daddy that Kaes came up with all on his own. I just laughed hysterically watching it again for about the tenth time, so I figured it was worth sharing.

On another note, the house is progressing nicely. They have completed both sides of the house and are now working on the soffit and fascia as well as the second storey in the front. We are getting tons of compliments on it and are very happy with the way things are going. My neighbour told me the other day that our house is a traffic hazard- everyone slows down to a near stop to look at what has been done!!
